Coffin Boxes are used in a myriad of spellwork surrounding the dead: necromancy, cursing and execration, witchcraft, money work, love work, and more. Use them to house effigies and spirits, or to put effigies of people you wish to send to the grave. Another way to use them is to fill them with materia magica, such as corn for money work, roses and honey for love work, and to empower spirits of the dead before giving it to a spirit in the graveyard.
