How To Use Solomon Seal Root In Folk Magic and Witchcraft

Solomon Seal Root, Solomon root, King Solomon Root is the spindly rhizomes of the Solomon Seal plant- an American native in the Asparagus family- grows all over the East Coast. The rhizomes grow yearly, and create round spots in the stems that create circular scars that look like seals- a nod to where the plant got its name. The root, being a nod to the seal, is used for granting wisdom like to King Solomon, for conjuring spirits, protecting from evil spirits, and uncrossing evil.
What is Solomon's Seal?
King Solomon was the son of David, the wise king who was asked by god what he desired: riches, power, or wisdom, ultimately choosing wisdom. After succeeding King David, King Solomon sought to build the first temple. According to legend, the King was given a ring by an angel (in some accounts, Michael, in some accounts, Gabriel) to command the legions of Djinn and fallen angels. From the Testament of Solomon:
“it came about through my prayer that grace was given to me from the Lord Sabaoth by Michael his archangel. [He brought me] a little ring, having a seal consisting of an engraved stone, and said to me: "Take, O Solomon, king, son of David, the gift which the Lord God has sent thee, the highest Sabaoth. With it thou shalt lock up all demons of the earth, male and female; and with their help thou shalt build up Jerusalem. [But] thou [must] wear this seal of God.”
There, King Solomon commanded the legions of spirits to different tasks, some as masons, some as smiths:
“I furthermore prayed to the Lord God to cause the demons without, that hamper humanity, to be bound and made to approach the Temple of God. Some of these demons I condemned to do the heavy work of the construction of the Temple of God. Others I shut up in prisons. Others I ordered to wrestle with fire in (the making of) gold and silver, sitting down by lead and spoon. And to make ready places for the other demons in which they should be confined.”
By the power of his ring, inscribed with the seal, he compelled djinni and demons to do his bidding. He was also able to seal the spirits up in a brazen vessel. This vessel, inscribed with the seal on top, could hold all seventy-two (or in some cases thousands) demons. This vessel, according to other legends, was thrown into the sea near Iram, the lost city.
The seal has been perpetuated to be many things, depending on the legend or the grimoire being used. For example, the green pentagram on the Moroccan flag is a reference to Solomon's Seal. While in the Lesser Key of Solomon, a distinct seal is designed. The Hexagram or Pentagram is used.

Place Solomon Seal Root and Jalap Root, with Bay Laurel and Sampson Snakeroot. Place into it
the Fourth Pentacle of Mercury, made in the Day and Hour of Mercury, and fumigated in lavender, Solomon Seal Root, and laurel. Dress in King Solomon Wisdom Oil, Crown of Success Oil, or Power Oil.
To Aid in Retaining Memory While Studying For An Important Exam
Dress your temples in Crown of Success Oil or King Solomon Wisdom Oil. Burn Crown of Success Self-Igniting Incense Powder, and mix with Solomon Seal Root, and pray to King Solomon:
King Solomon, Son of David,
You who were wise beyond measure,
You who had revealed your seal, by the divine power of God,
Because you loved God so much,
By an angel,
Who, by God's ever-loving-kindness granted you the power to bind the Princes of Hell
And their 72 officers,
And their hundreds of legions,
Grant me the wisdom,
Oh great King,
And knowledge,
Of all things on Earth,
Amen.
An Uncrossing Bath To Turn Away Evil
Blend Balm of Gilead Buds, Uncrossing Wash, and Solomon Seal Root. Pray Psalm 68:
68 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.
